T__T
I am so, so, so close to being done with this terrible week.

Bio test is over.

Chem lab has been conquered (but it was so terrible. I hate chem lab).

Chem test is over. (If you care, it was OK. The problems were predictably easy and the time was predictably short and my non TI-83 calculator is predictably retarded - the one problem I know I got wrong was because of a calculation error and not a methodology error on my part. EPIC FAIL, TI-30XA.)

Now, I just have my ridiculously late and long Honors Seminar to finish and a GEMS group team meeting, and I'll be gloriously free.

Also, when Obama was announced president, our campus exploded. People flooded the sidewalks and cheered and shouted. And the entire time, I was just thinking, please stop making noise so I can study for chem.

...I'm so lame.

midterms, part 2

D:
Have I mentioned that I really hate Bio? 'Cause I really hate Bio. I studied so hard for this test (stayed up till 4:30 AM a;ldfjk;lkj) and then I confuse gymnosperms for bryophytes. WTF life. I hate mosses. There goes 10 points. So sad. :(

Also, chem midterm this Wednesday. Lots of math involving moles. I don't like moles. I don't really like math either. This isn't going to be pleasant.

And I need to get started on that English term paper. Um.

In conclusion, this week really sucks.

(By request, good luck, Rosie! ♥ And me.)

--

[EDIT]

By popular request (and by 'popular,' I mean Ani):

On Halloween, I did chem for 4-5 hours. It was ridiculous. Like, really really ridiculous. And the entire time, I was trying to rush through it so I could go down and watch scary movies with my friends. But luckily, once I finished at 10 PM (my classes are so ridiculous), I caught the end of Bloody Mary (oh Jensen Ackles, I come undone for you).

And then we watched Alien.

And then the Ring. Which, I would like to add, was really really scary. I mean, i thought I had built up an immunity to scary movies after Supernatural, but clearly I overestimated my skills. D: The little girl is so scary. Why are dead children always so scary?

Barbara was there (♥!), and she reiterated all the reasons why majoring in bio is such a bad idea. Which I've heard many, many times.

So I stayed up till 3:30 AM, and had to wake up at 7 AM (I have never woken up so early for college yet) for my service activity for GEMS100. I was grumpy and whiny, but our section leaders shoved some Dunkin' Donuts into us and we destroyed some trees, and it was fun. I was especially dorky since I started phylogenetically classifying everything. (Did I mention I hate Bio? 'Cause I'll say it again.)

...My life is pathetically boring.

Good luck, Noori on your calc and neuro midterms. ♥♥♥ Don't get distracted and work hard!

Well, I knew that I would eventually end up skipping Bio because it is too early, but I didn't expect to oversleep less than a week before our midterm. Fuck. :( I hate this class.

this is the sound of my gpa sinking

D:
I could create a TV series about the amount of angst I go through for every test.

EPISODE 01: CHEM TEST

01. I've been studying for this since last week.
02. This is the most I've studied for anything. Seriously. I only crammed for a day for APs.
03. I really felt I understood the material, inside and out.
04. The questions on the test were totally reasonable.
05. There wasn't enough time.
06. I hate my non-graphing calculator. I was trying to subtract 28.48 from 29.19 and it kept telling me it was 58. Fuck you, TI-36.
07. I left two questions that were eight points each, blank.
08. This test is out of 100.
09. I hope there is a curve.
10. Please let there be a curve.

PREVIEW OF EPISODE 02: BIO TEST
(coming to LJ on Monday, when I've failed it)

01. It's on 10 chapters.
02. Each chapter has >20 pages.
03. We have to memorize certain groups of bacteria, archaea, and protists.
04. We have to memorize the eons, eras, and periods.
05. He tests on the most specific things.
06. Like things he doesn't even mention.
07. How does the QWERTY keyboard have anything to do with organismal biology?
08. (The answer: it doesn't.)
09. The class average is 60.
10. But apparently there is a girl in the class who does too well.

Quick Recap of My Life

  • Aug. 14th, 2008 at 12:02 AM
:|
(I'm not dead, I swear. Just... really, really lazy)

College - I can whine and gripe about being a mere 20 minutes away from home, but this just means that when I inevitably forget something, I can call up the parents and tell them to bring it within a day. Also, they sent me a crab mallet, a bib, and some Old Bay. I think that automatically makes my college better than yours. (Though I am not looking forward to sharing a bathroom with 50+ people. The price of attending a huge university.)

Driving School - I think I might stick to public transportation for the rest of my life. The theoretical was boringly easy, but the actual driving? Not so much. I fear ending up with my right sideview mirror smashed into pieces from a collision with a mailbox because I always, always drive too close to the curb.

Fandom - Rewatched/reread basically everything. (Highlights: Prince of Tennis ending? Kind of really unsatisfying. Also, EYESHIELD 21? KIND OF FANTASTIC, OH MY GOD. ♥♥♥ I REALLY LOVE THIS SERIES. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT, READ IT.) Started/finished Avatar, which is oh my god, so great. I wish it hadn't ended. I wish there was another season. Why isn't there another season. :((( Got sucked into Nabari no Ou. Might get sucked into Code Geass (if Abby has anything to say about it).

Summer - Mostly trapped in my house, except for driving school for two weeks (with Abby!), so even all my RL friends think I'm dead. But this week promises of kidnappings so that I can, you know, socialize (which I'm kind of terrible at). Also, need to buy stuff for dorm and laptop for classes and convince my parents to let me take my computer to school because I really am very attached to my PC.

Today (or Yesterday, rather) - Was basically kidnapped by Susan and Keisha (who actually showed up at my house unannounced, wouldn't tell me where we were going, and dragged me out the door). Kind of embarrassing as I was asleep when they rung the doorbell, but the county fair was fun, the ice cream was delicious (if not horribly overpriced), and BINGO was totally rigged. Totally. Nice to unexpectedly meet up with Soraya at the fair, especially since we were considering kidnapping her when we passed her house on the way. Sushi, Chinese food, Super Smash Bros. All very good things. ♥!

Dark Knight - WHY HAVEN'T I SEEN THIS MOVIE YET? SOMEONE TAKE ME TO SEE IT, PLEASE. :(((

Also, my writing's a little rusty and this is my first attempt at writing in this fandom, but a drabble born from days and days of driving school:

Title: Untitled
Series/Pairings: Hikaru no Go, Hikaru/Akira, car
Notes: PG-13, but really nothing happens at all; very short (like, very very). Mostly for Abby, who suffered through driving school with me (though she's much safer to have on the road than me).
Summary: Hikaru buys a car. It's a good investment.

school - day 1

:|

I actually like all my classes (so far, since there are 2 more that I haven't attended yet), except for AP Lit (pd. 1) which is scary and a little terrible. My teacher is rather monotonous, and she expects us to write elaborate and detailed introductions/conclusions that span pages in a 40 minute time frame. I fear for my GPA (my sanity and my poor, poor writing hand).

I expect that many of my classmates will be falling asleep during class since it is first thing in the morning (which is also terrible).

Also, Jane Eyre is still very boring and for 100 pages, nothing happens. Thus, I still have not finished my summer reading (though it doesn't seem to matter anymore as I already know the essay topic and Sparknotes/Cliffnotes is god).

AP Human Geography (pd. 3) is fun, Ms Thomas is fun, and the people in my class are fun.

SRP (pd. 5) is horrible, but this may be because I am biased and hate research and hated my internship this summer (but the class is bearable and Ms Ragan is nice).

AP Psych (pd. 7) is kind of awesome. Ms Jessell is really laid back (and fun!), and I mean. It's Psych. What could go wrong? (Well, except for the part where David Jia is in my class, and poor Haoxing, because where he goes, David Jia seems to follow.)

Marine Bio (pd. 8) is Dr. Miller and room full of magnets. There is nothing better. No, really. (I explode with love at this class, and especially Dr. Miller who hands out stuffed sharks and octopi. She is truly the embodiment of all things awesome.)

Tomorrow, I go to my Japanese and Biochem classes. Nothing can go wrong, for Japanese is in its first year (and thus easy), and Biochem is taught by Ms Bosse, who is hilarious and sarcastic and so laid back that she doesn't even flinch when people start talking about questionable things (and people talk about many questionable things, trust me).

So hoorah! Besides the fact that I'm terrified of AP Lit and all it entails, my schedule is delightful and full of delightful people. (Except I may have to change it because I'm missing a second period, and that is apparently unacceptable.)

Now I must go nap before I tackle my insurmountable pile of homework (and yes, on the first day of school. This does not bode well).

Sleep when you're dead! Whether it's emotionally or physically, you're exhausted. Have you considered sleeping pills? I took them when I had mono, and they made everything better.
wanna know your lj's moodring color? enter your user name and hit the button. (discussion thread)

This is suprisingly accurate. I am totally exhausted. I don't need sleeping pills to crash.

Happy New Year!
I hope 2007 brings more sleep than 2006, but I highly doubt it...

Five Things Jenny Has Been Doing Over Break:
1. Watching House (finished all the episodes in 4 days--I wish my obsessive nature applied to schoolwork)
2. Reading House fic
3. Reading [info]blind_go fic
4. Being antisocial
5. Not doing homework

And consequently, Five Things Jenny Has To Do Now That Break is Pretty Much Over:
1. Homework. All of it. a;dlskfj
2. Write fic. Since I promised [info]abster226 fic and I haven't actually gotten around to it
3. Apply to some summer internship.
4. Remind myself to watch House every Tuesday.
5. Weep. Gahhh school. :(((

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/whatever else you might celebrate. ♥!

BAD THINGS:

1. Detention - security guards sweep the halls looking for late students and give them detention slips at my school. Not only is this stupid because it's only encouraging kids to skip (really, only a goody-goody like me would go to class and risk detention), but my school is in the middle of tons of traffic. Getting to school on time is a pain in the ass, and getting detention for slow-moving traffic is not the best way to start a day.
2. Math test - I think this is self-explanatory
3. Genetics test - *frets* I don't actually know half the stuff that's on the test tomorrow.
4. No snow. :(((

GOOD THINGS:

1. Detention ended early today 'cause the supervisor had a conference to get to.
2. The week is almost over. Just. One. More. Day.
3. PSAT scores back. *preens*
4. Oh, and hey.  I have DDR now. That's pretty nifty.

And now, to jump on the bandwagon - fill my stocking!

D:

So for the past 3-4 days, my immune system has been fighting off:

1. a pounding headache
2. a fever (though that was secondary compared to the hammer slamming into my skull)
3. some sort of stomach virus that made me:
     a) anorexic 'cause I had no appetite (I missed out on birthday cake ;___;)
     b) bulimic 'cause everytime I decided to eat something, I just upended half an hour later

Then, around 3 AM today, it just stopped. The churning in my stomach just kind of died. And then it started growling. NICE TRY STOMACH, LIKE I'M GONNA FALL FOR THAT ONE AGAIN. You're not getting fed until at least tomorrow (probably). I really can't wait until I can start stuffing my face with unhealthy foods again...

Also, I suddenly became un-sick after finishing 2/3 of my math homework. HAHA UNIVERSE, YOU'RE PRETTY FUNNY.

...I think I'm going to curl up somewhere until the Universe stops mocking me.

a series of unfortunate events

  • Oct. 16th, 2006 at 6:54 PM
D:

1. Our pot got stolen. No joke. Someone up and took our pot. Or our pot up and walked away. Either way, now we have no research project, have basically wasted weeks of work and well. I'm debating whether this is a good thing or a bad thing because on the one hand, no pot = no demo = no failed demo. On the other hand, all those days of work = gone. (Cooking pot, btw. Not marijuana.)

2. English essay = uninspired and crap. Religious prompts make Jenny want to bash her head against a wall.

3. My math teacher promised us that our next test will be like 800x harder than our last test. Hard test = Jenny failing

4. I have to read an entire World chapter by Thursday.

5. PSATs on Wednesday. I have to get above a 223 to make the National Merit cutoff or get disowned by my parents. WTF, WHY DOES MY STATE HAVE TO BE SO FUCKING SMART???

And so, a PSAT problem: Choose the word or set of words that, when inserted in the sentence, best fits the meaning of the sentence as a whole:

JENNY IS _____ FOR THE PSATS.

a) panicking
b) not studying
c) screwed
d) screwedscrewedscrewed
e) All of the above

--

On the plus side, I managed my first A on a math test. :D

Also, my genetics class wins at life. Seriously:
Mrs Bosse: (on the topic of why we should not be losing points on short answer responses) Look, here's a free response rubric. It tells you exactly how to write BCRs.
Me: BUT THE DRUGS ARE IN THE WAY.

...In my defense, they were.

10 Things Jenny Has Been Doing for the Past Few Weeks:

1. Failing math tests (yes, another one).
2. Doing most of the work for her research project because her group = shit.
3. Ranting about how her research group is shit.
4. Sanding wood on possibly dangerous machines. Fun. :) I smell like sawdust now.
5. Discovering the joys of Writely.com. (Thank you [info]svz_insanity for introducing me to it. :))
6. Flailing over Kame. Flailing over Yamapi. Flailing over them being next to each other.
7. Converting friends to JPop. Just as I have converted friends to PoT. (I'm such a drug dealer.)
8. Watching PoT OVAs. (ASD;LKFJ TEZUKA. GLOWING. RYOMA. SO CUTE. INUI. PANTSED.)
9. Compulsively watching videos of KAT-TUN & NewS on YouTube. This is turning into another obsession.
10. Not sleeping.

On a brighter note, I got a perfect on my dance evaluation. Possibly the most useless class to get a perfect in, but okay.
I still hate math. But that's nothing new.

The transitive property in an easy-to-understand, real-life situation:
Given:
1. Jenny fails at difficult tests.
2. Jenny took a difficult math test today.
Therefore, it can be concluded that:
3. Jenny has failed her math test today.

And for you I-hate-math-English-is-better folk, transitive property = syllogism.

Also: Murphy's Law of Integrals - the integral you didn't know how to do on the homework will be the integral you have to do on the math test (exact same problem a;sldkfj). In my defense, he never went over the test review sheet.

Hate. Calculus. :((

[Tenimyu] Parallel Lines (Yuuya/Yanagi)

  • Sep. 11th, 2006 at 11:30 PM
:|
Clearly [info]no_ori is a bad influence because I should be studying for Calc and analyzing speeches for AP Lang and reading pages about Plato for AP World. Clearly she is converting me, and I am a weak, weak person for giving in so easily. (Also, clearly I have math on the mind because this fic = odd & random. Even by my standards.)

Title: Parallel Lines
Rating/Warnings: PG/One bad word. Maybe two. I forget.
Pairing: Yuuya/Yanagi
Notes: In short, this is what happened:
Me: My creative writing hw is to write 2 journal entries, and I flipped open to the next blank page and started writing Yuuya/Yanagi. This is all your fault.
Noori: AFASDAS HEHEHEHEHE. I'm such an awful influence.
And thus (it has nothing to do with camera whoring):

do this because you love me

I have a class called Research Design and currently, we're designing a safety project. The nazi teacher wants us to do a market research survey and hey, what better way to survey random people than via LJ? So please fill out this (very, very short) survey, most of which are yes/no questions, and in return, I will give you my eternal love. ♥

I just have to say that the fact that we're making a pot is making reports very amusing. "The New and Improved Pot." We all sound like druggies...

[Tenimyu] Mixed Meanings (Yanagi/Yuuya)

  • Aug. 31st, 2006 at 7:17 PM
<3
Title: Mixed Meanings (or Reasons Why Yuuya Should Wake Up Early)
Pairing: Yanagi/Yuuya
Rating: PG-13 (for sexual innuendo)
Notes: Written for [info]no_ori because I thought she could have use some love on the first day of school. Inspired by Yanagi's hotel entry blog entry. Also inspired by the fans' incredulity disbelief that Yanagi could top. (Or rather, that Yanagi takes care of Yuuya and not the other way around.)

Also, have yet to procrastinate on homework. Averaging 7 hours of sleep per night. Is a record (except possibly for freshmen year, but that was when I hadn't discovered LJ or PoT so it really doesn't count).

school - day 1

  • Aug. 29th, 2006 at 3:45 PM
:|

Most of my classes are pretty small, except for Dance and AP World. I haven't been to my Calculus or Research class yet, so I'm not sure about their size. I'm also kind of, sort of regretting taking Dance, but it's my cheap way of getting my Fine Arts credit without having to add to my homework load.

The highlight of my day was lunch because SORAYA GOT ME A RYOMA KEYCHAIN. *____* It is so cute and Ryoma is hugging a tennis ball in his pajamas and just. So cute. I was thinking about hanging it on my lanyard to show it off, but then I figured it'd get really scratched up, so I just stuck it with my Tezuka plushie (in his little basket). So appropriate.

It seems like everyone became hot over the summer. I just got fat. What's up with that?

(Also, Noori. Have you read your card yet? :D)

Aug. 28th, 2006

  • 5:20 PM
D:
Note to self: Never, ever leave most of your summer homework for the week before school starts and then continue to procrastinate until the day before school starts. It is stupid. And it makes you work hard until 5:30 AM so that you finish your summer reading so that you don't have to do anything on your last day off before Hell starts all over again, but you end up editting and revising and BSing some more so that your English teacher doesn't actually think you left it until the last second when you actually did.

The funny thing is, if I had worked that hard at the beginning of summer or at the middle of summer or even three weeks before summer ended, I wouldn't be in this predicament. I'm pretty sure I could've finished it all in one week if I tried. This only means that I should start a self-help group called Procrastinators Anonymous so that someone, someone, can help me.

This school year is going to kill me. It is going to kill me very, very dead. (I can't handle APs and SATs and SATIIs and PSATs, and god. Colleges. Senior Research Project. Calculus.)

I can't cope. :(((

Original plan:
Finish Guns, Germs and Steel by Tuesday.
Finish Into the Wild and its 3 journal entries by Thursday.
Finish math by Friday.
Recuperate over the weekend.

How Jenny has managed to fuck this up:
Finished Guns, Germs and Steel with help from [info]no_ori just now.
Into the Wild not started.
Math not finished.
No recuperation.

I hate school. The school year hasn't even started, but oh god, I hate school.
